ConfessReels ("we," "us," "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the ConfessReels mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

Email address (used for login and account recovery only)
First and last name (optional, used for account creation only; never displayed publicly)
Authentication provider (email/password, Apple Sign-In, or Google Sign-In)
A randomly generated anonymous ID (your public-facing identity)

User-Generated Content

Confessions (posts) you create
Comments on other users' posts
Direct messages
Reactions (emoji reactions on posts)
Reports you file against content or users

Automatically Collected Information

Firebase Analytics may collect device type, OS version, app version, and usage patterns
Firebase Crashlytics may collect crash reports and error logs
IP addresses may be processed by Firebase Authentication for security purposes

To authenticate your identity and maintain your account
To moderate content and enforce our Community Guidelines

To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage) — for user accounts, data storage, and file storage. Firebase's privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Apple Sign-In (iOS) — for authentication. Apple's privacy policy applies.
Expo / EAS — for app delivery and updates. Expo does not collect personal data from end users.

We do not use advertising SDKs and do not sell your data to third parties.

4. Data Retention

Account data is retained until you delete your account
Posts and comments may be retained in anonymized form after account deletion to preserve conversation threads
Reports and moderation actions may be retained for safety and legal compliance
Posts and comments are anonymized (author identity removed) upon account deletion but may remain visible to preserve conversation context

5. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete Account) or by visiting our account deletion page. When you delete your account, we remove your email, name, anonymous ID, block/mute lists, and authentication credentials. Posts and comments you made will be anonymized (author identity removed) but may remain visible to preserve conversation threads. See our deletion page for full details.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures provided by Google Firebase, including encrypted data transmission (TLS), Firestore security rules that enforce access control at the database level, and Firebase Authentication for secure identity management. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

7. Children's Privacy

ConfessReels is not intended for users under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete the account.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the app or via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
